Lloyd Peeples is a distinguished attorney with over two decades of legal experience, known for his unwavering commitment to public protection and exceptional contributions to public service and the private sector. Currently serving as Senior Trial Counsel in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, Lloyd has built a reputation as a respected leader in law enforcement and criminal justice. His career exemplifies a deep dedication to the rule of law and an unrelenting pursuit of integrity within the legal system.

Lloyd’s academic journey began at Washington & Lee University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science in 1995. He later attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1998. During his time at Cumberland, Lloyd’s academic achievements were underscored by leadership roles, including positions on the Cumberland Law Review and the Executive Board of the Trial Advocacy Board. Recognized for his expertise in criminal procedure and constitutional law, he earned the prestigious Scholar of Merit honors in these fields, laying the groundwork for his future career.

Lloyd’s legal career started in public service as Legislative Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he worked to address the pivotal issue of youth violence and judicial matters. This role provided valuable insights into the legislative process and deepened his passion for policy development through legal advocacy. Following a clerkship with Chief Judge Tamara O. Mitchell in the United States Bankruptcy Court, he joined the private sector at Bradley Arant Rose & White, LLP, where he gained extensive experience in complex litigation.

In 2003, Lloyd began his career as a prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama. Over the years, he has taken on numerous leadership roles in that office, including Deputy Chief, Civil/Criminal Health Care Fraud Coordinator, and Chief of the Criminal Division. His work on high-profile cases highlights his dedication to prosecuting complex federal crimes and ensuring justice.

Beyond his legal career, Lloyd served as Chief Executive Officer of Container Service Corporation, showcasing his versatility, knowledge, and leadership in the corporate world. However, his passion for law ultimately drew him back to public service. His intellectual curiosity and commitment to legal advocacy are reflected in his published article, “Exculpatory Polygraphs in the Courtroom: How the Truth Might Not Set You Free.”
